Why do people leave their homeland?

This term we will read Windrush Child by poet and author Benjamin Zephaniah. In this story we follow the experiences of a young, Leonard, as he leaves Jamaica to join his father who works and lives in Manchester, England. The novel explores the experiences of the Windrush Generation and the racism that many of the 'Windrushers' faced as they settled in England.
